Calling all User Groups! The BSD Certification Group Inc. announced
a fundraising competition at BSDCan 2006.

If you're a member of a BUG, LUG, UUG, or sysadmin User Group,
here's your chance to help the BSD Certification Group realize
their goal of creating the standard certification for system
administrators of the BSD family of operating systems. This is a
great opportunity to assist in a worthy cause while showcasing the
generosity and creative spirit found within your User Group.

Here's how it works:

Start a discussion within your User Group on the most effective
and intriguing way to raise funds to be donated to the BSD
Certification Group Inc. There will be a prize (described below)
for the most creative fundraising technique so give free reign to
your Group's collective imagination. The fundraiser you choose can
be an ongoing event or you may prefer to set a specific date for
the event. All monies raised by your User Group must be collected
by June 18th.

Once your User Group has settled on their fundraiser, register your
Group using the contact form at the BSD Certification website. Using
a subject of "chair", input your name and email address. In the text
box, input the name and URL of your User Group and a brief description
of how the funds will be raised. Once registered, a confirmation email
will be sent. Within a few days, another email will be sent reminding
you of important dates; it will also contain instructions for
submitting the funds raised.

Important Dates:

June 10th: cut-off date for registering User Group

June 18th: fundraising events conclude

June 30th: all monies to be received by BSD Certification Group Inc.

July 7th: winners announced

Prizes:

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, there will be two prizes
available.

The User Group that raises the most funds will receive 2 full passes
to BSDCan 2007 as well as a 15% discount to BSDCan 2007 for any
member of the User Group.

The User Group with the most interesting method for raising funds
will receive $500 worth of O'Reilly books.

Sponsors:

BSDCan (http://www.bsdcan.org) which is held annually in Ottawa,
Canada, has quickly become the leading BSD conference. An amazing
blend of high quality talks, a very social atmosphere, and plenty
of opportunity to meet people makes for a great conference at low
prices. Mark your calendars for BSDCan 2007 which will be held May
11 and 12, 2007.

O'Reilly Media (http://www.oreilly.com/) spreads the knowledge of
innovators through its books, online services, magazine, and
conferences. Since 1978, O'Reilly has been a chronicler and catalyst
of leading-edge development, homing in on the technology trends
that really matter and spurring their adoption by amplifying "faint
signals" from the alpha geeks who are creating the future. An active
participant in the technology community, the company has a long
history of advocacy, meme-making, and evangelism.

The O'Reilly User Group Program is an alliance to support established
user groups. The object of the program is to foster relationships
with technical communities that meet regularly, troubleshoot, write
product reviews, and share knowledge. Sign up to take advantage of
discounts, promotions, and review copies. Register at
