Yes, it's hard to make a good survey.
And no one expects wonders at this stage.
Much of the survey was done right.
And yes it is also much work.
One could see that a good deal of work was invested and lot about
the survey was done right.
There was one big thing not done right though, as far as i can see.
There was, i can only guess, not much testing.
But exactly here the energy of the community should not be underestemated.
I'm pretty sure many people would have contributed in the most amazing ways,
had they been given the opprotunity.
Often it is best to work _with_ the community instead of _for_ it.
Like with a new system setup, testing it with a subset of the users
(in this case this mailling list e.g.) then incorporating the feedback
will usually lead to a much better setup. Especially if your resources
are low, directing them in the wrong direction will hurt you even more.
I really like to see a sign of this spirit, because an approach
from above with critic leading to a wall of denial and/or PR dodges
will certainly not attract me.
Instead of that i would like to see an openess to use the power
of this mighty community with the spirit that builds the community,
and that spirit includes for me cooperation, exchange of ideas
If this is not even one of the goals then maybe i really should
have listened to the "Walk on - Nothing to see" advise.
