Awesome idea!  Lets do it.

I'll step up with a "Science Fair Volcano" that I can easily pull off: 
Demo of PfSense/carp HA setup.

When I train folks on this setup, I drag soekris boxes out to build a 
full replica of a network, including fake WAN side, and soekris lagg(4) 
server.  Fits in a backpack, fun to unplug cables and watch it all 
survive.  If the con were tomorrow, I could light this in 30 minutes...

Interactive fun: pulling ethernet, changing config, watching ping not 
stop, etc...
