A few quick notes.

***

By request, there is a small installfest happening focused on BSDs on
laptops on Tuesday, January 21 starting at 630 PM in the backroom of
Suspenders. It should last until about 8 PM.

---->$25 tickets to NYCBSDCon will also be available<----
Feel free to come by just to buy a ticket.

Be sure to do the appropriate homework to make it successful.

- check dmesgd (http://nycbug.org/?action=dmesgd) for your model
- bring the appropriate install media for the BSD of your choice, and
confirm that it boots

Online registration opens up shortly for those unable to register
locally. The price is $50 via Paypal. On the conference morning
itself, walk-in registration will be $60. For students, the price is
$15 *whenever* or *however* they register, as long as there there is a
valid ID for a full-time student.

Additional opportunities to purchase tickets for $25 locally *may*
happen in the new few weeks.

***

The NYCBSDCon schedule has been posted at
http://www.nycbsdcon.org/2014/schedule.html. The full presentation and
speaker descriptions will be posted shortly.

***

We are on track to have an excellent and well-attended conference. An
updated flier and poster will be available on the conference web site
shortly, and we strongly encourage it to be posted in appropriate
locations, particularly at universities. Make sure you send an announce
around in your own IT department. The best way to build the conference
is through personal contacts, not through vague virtual blasts to the
internet blackhole.

***

There is no NYC*BUG meeting for February 6 since NYCBSDCon is on
February 8. Future planned meetings include:

March 6: NetBSD's pkgsrc
April 1: Getting Random Number Generation Right
(not that this meeting will likely be held on the first Tuesday of
April, as opposed to Wednesday)
