I vote we should start using Vinge's word for this scenario:
``perverted''.  Instead of ``the box has been compromised,'' say
``that machinery has become perverted.''  

Instead of ``the worm is spreading through all our systems in that IP
block really quickly,'' say ``the perversion is spreading throughout
the entire cluster.''
