[nycbug-talk] OT: Verizon LTE vs T-Mobile "4g" on FreeBSD

Hi everyone, Happy Snow Day --

Right now I have a Verizon Blackberry Bold that I can tether to my laptop
with 3G speeds (slowish). I don't like the fact that I have to tether,
though, and I also don't like that I can't use my phone and Internet at
the same time.

I've thought about getting a new Verizon 4g LTE card, but it looks like
the plans are expensive, and getting it working on FreeBSD would be
troublesome.

I saw that T-Mobile has HSPA+ in NYC and Boston (where I frequent the
most) and their prices are quite cheap, plus there aren't any overage fees
(it just slows down). Plus, it looks like it'll be easier to get the
device working in FreeBSD and even inside Ubuntu (which I sometimes use).

Does anyone have experience with T-Mobile's network versus Verizons? Any
comments on this? Anyone got either working in FreeBSD?

-Matt
