    * Description:

      A major NYC-based media company is currently looking for a Sr. Level Linux System Administrator to join the Technical Operations staff. The candidate should have a strong support background with 3+ years experience supporting Linux/Solaris is a large 24x7 enterprise environment. Previous Java development experience a plus.

      RESPONSIBILITIES:

      - Implement and maintain RedHat/Suse/Debian Linux and Sun Solaris systems for client sites.
      - Application server support of Apache/Jboss/Tomcat servers.
      - Apply operating system, security and application patches.
      - Monitor systems for performance and availability.
      - Work with various business units and development groups to deploy application code into Staging and Production environments.
      - Respond to tickets that come into our ticketing system.
      - Implement and maintain system backups.
      - Interface with business to identify practical solutions applicable to the business needs based on available technology.
      - Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and testing.
      - Perform hardware upgrade.

    * Required Skills:

      REQUIRED SKILLS:

      - Enterprise level experience with RedHat linux. (2.1 AS, 3.0 ES, 3.0 AS)
      - Production support of Apache and Jboss is essential.
      - Strong experience with Solaris (2.6, 7, 8, 9) on Enterprise class Sun hardware.
      - Production support of Apache and Jboss is essential.
      - Basic shell and perl scripting.
      - Ability to troubleshoot using truss, and strace.
      - Strong understanding of core TCP/IP protocols.
      - Basic understanding of Oracle and it’s components.
      - Understanding of performance tuning and capacity planning fundamentals.
      - Understanding of security best practices.

      DESIRED SKILLS:

      - Familiar with EMC SAN technology.
      - Experience with Veritas products. (VCS, VxVM, VxFS, QIO)
      - Able to create Solaris packages, and RedHat RPMs.
      - Knowledge of Weblogic and ATG Dynamo.
      - Experience with Cisco or Foundry networking devices.
