    * Description: Reports to the chair of the department. Manages, establishes, expands and maintains administrative computing services and integrated with university-wide network computing operations. Participates in short and long-term computing planning and provides training in computer skills. Creates, installs, and maintains relational databases and conserves related documentation. Responsible for department laboratory software and hardware; diagnoses and repairs software and hardware problems. Analyzes user computer needs, evaluates software and hardware items to specifications. Conducts cost analysis surveys and procures updates from vendors for improvements to data systems. Involved in support of cognitive science research related to various networks and computational neuroscience.

    * Required Skills: Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, cognitive science, or related fields, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, plus approximately three years of experience developing and programming relational databases and maintenance of network systems. Familiarity with C-programming, UNIX system internals (BSD, System V, Solaris, Linux), Windows, and local area networks running TCP/IP required. Image processing and graphics programming experience preferred. Must have excellent analytical and communication skills. A master's degree and academic computing experience desired.
