MIVA Direct is seeking an experienced UNIX system admin to be a part of a team that is responsible for a sizeable and stable production environment, located across multiple data centers. This person will work closely with software and business development to achieve company goals.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and capable of working independently under minimal direction. The job requires critical thinking and methodological troubleshooting. Responsibilities:

- Maintain system and network infrastructure in production environment.
- Monitor 24x7 operation, ensuring stability and performance.
- Rotating on-call schedule with other team members.
- Capacity planning and performance tuning.
- Proactively improve infrastructure and operation.
- Develop tools to automate tasks.
- Perform data center tasks.

# Required Skills:

- 3+ years of experience in a sizeable (100+ servers) and/or critical production environment.
- 1+ years of experience in an escalation or engineering role.
- Solid understanding of UNIX kernel performance and/or security tuning.
- Solid understanding of Internet protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and/or BGP).
- In-depth knowledge with Apache.
- Solid shell scripting and programming skills (perl, PHP, Java, or C).
- Exposure to open source projects.
- Exposure to source control/change management tools.
- Network administration experience (firewalls, routers, and load balancers).
- Storage administration experience (EMC, Veritas) desirable.
- Database administration experience (Oracle, MySQL) desirable.
