    * Description:

      EMusic.com, Inc., a digital music subscription service providing innovative online music retail and distribution services, is looking for an experienced Linux/Network Administrator to play a central role in building and maintaining mission-critical infrastructure to support demanding business requirements.

      PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

      · Provide day-to-day operational duties, including on-going daily support, hardware installation, software installation, network management, monitoring, trouble-shooting, and long-term projects.

      · Help evolve the next generation of our architecture
      · Support corporate office, NY office, engineering, quality assurance, and production web sites.
      · Monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and long-term projects for all environments
      · Interaction with external service providers
      · On-call for responding to production, engineering, and end-user problems
      · Assist users with office productivity tools and database connectivity
      · Maintain backup / restore, anti-virus, and other core services
      · Support and maintain email systems

      · Develop and maintain administration and monitoring tools
      · Development and maintenance of documentation for multiple environments
      · Experienced working in dynamic, fast-paced environment with well-developed practices and procedures

       



    * Required Skills:

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      · 5+ years as a Linux or Unix Systems Administrator.
      · 2+ years production Linux and Windows experience.

      · Operating Systems: Linux, Redhat, Redhat Advanced Server, FreeBSD.
      · Network: TCP/IP, routing protocols, redundant switctches, VPN, security practices
      · Support Apache, Oracle, MySQL, PHP applications
      · Web server performance tuning
      · Data center skills: cabling, power, racks, managing space

      · Previous responsibility in maintaining large 24/7/365 web environment.
      · Experienced with installation and maintenance of Windows, Linux, and Solaris in corporate, engineering and/or productions environment.
      · Working knowledge of Windows NT, 2K, and XP, and office productivity tools
      · Exposed to JumpStart / KickStart procedures; building of Solaris and RedHat packages
      · Working knowledge of backup / restore technology (Veritas NetBackup), hardware, and procedures
      · Setup and maintenance of: DNS, DHCP, Anti-virus, Ghost, Apache, IIS, bugzilla, CVS
      · Exposure to NIDS, HIDS, OS hardening
      · Demonstrable experience with scripting: shell, perl, or python (bring samples to interview)
      · Exposure to Cisco gear and VPN technology; understanding of IP protocols
      · Experience with setup and maintenance of Exchange 5.5 and 2000
      · Demonstrable experience with developing and maintaining documentation of mixed environments
      · Working system administrator experience with Oracle, MS-SQL, and MySQL
      · Proven ability to solve problems and a willingness to learn

       

      EDUCATION:

      · Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, EE, Math or a related field
