Modirum is hiring: UNIX system administrator/command line warrior

Modirum is a worldwide player in the constantly evolving market of
Card Not Present (CNP) payments. The company offers a complete spectrum of
niche solutions for issuers, acquirers, processors, payment service providers
and merchants to authenticate, secure and process Card Not Present payments
through certified PCI-DSS geo-redundant data centers and PA-DSS certified

We’re looking for a security-minded system administrator/command line warrior
at our network operation center in New York/Staten Island.

The Work

The selected candidate will join the hosting team as part of an international
group of leading subject matter experts on CNP working with globally recognized
clients. The person in this role will:

    • Manage day-to-day operational tasks to ensure a premium end user
experience is delivered to our clients

    • Be part of implementation and integration projects with new and existing
      clients

	• Review, enhance and potentially refactor existing integrations

    • Ensure solutions and procedures comply with the security requirements set
forth by our clients, the card brands and the payment card industry
      (PCI-DSS, amongst others)

	• Take part in developing our hosted SaaS platform for the future

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in managing UNIX
systems (most preferably FreeBSD) for Internet services demanding a high level
of availability, performance and security. The person will have to manage
multiple priorities, learn quickly and work independently. The candidate must:

    • Hold a degree or be self-taught in computer science

    • Be fluent in shell scripting, Perl, Ruby or any other common dynamically
typed language common on *NIX systems

	• Have some familiarity with FreeBSD

	• Have good understanding of networks and network security

We’d absolutely love it if a candidate has:

	• Experience with FreeBSD jails and ZFS

	• In-depth knowledge of MySQL (multi-replication setups, in particular)

	• A sincere interest in working with large amounts of data

	• Java application operation and support

	• Knowledge of, and experience with, configuration management systems

The Modirum Experience

Modirum offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work with some of
the finest folks around in an atmosphere where you’ll grow, develop and have
fun. When we don't wage war on the command line, we eat and drink and are a
merry bunch. The company has offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia. The role
will include some international travel and attendance at relevant conferences.
The primary location for this position is our network operation center on
Staten Island. For the right candidate, flexible scheduling will be considered.
