Since I posted the original problem, I ran cvsup using "ports-all" in my supfile, and it worked flawlessly. I'd be mailing from it now, but I haven't had a chance to configure it yet :) -- It said "use Linux 2.4 kernel or better" so I installed FreeBSD. Now everything runs better. Why didn't they just tell me to do that to begin with?
