matt - it might be worth checking these alternative repos:

EPEL (extra packages for enterprise linux):
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL

and Dag's Yum Repo:
http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/

sorry to lazy to check the versions they have - but one of them should  
have more recent builds of the openldap clients...
