As someone who this position will be filled to help me with most of the
work around here (I am not the CTO, but the person brought on to "fix" adn
administrate this stuff, and I answer to the CTO), this person whould be
knowledgeable as well about Linux and FreeBSD, as well as have a grounding
in Cisco switches and content load balancing modules. We also have several
windows boxes used for databases, and would prefer that the person that we
hire have a "best tool for the job" attitude, rather than a religious
conviction in open source or any other type of software.
I can also say that despite the hard work, this company is wonderful to
work for, very flexible and likes to have fun. A few weeks ago we went to
the Mets game to sit in a corp. booth on the 3rd base line, and they had
beer, hot dogs, sandwiches, and crackerjacks for us :)
The company is solvent, and will be around for some time to come, because
they are smart with money as well. The development staff is fun and
knowledgable, and the CTO is just one of the coolest people I've every
worked with.
