Arts Engine, Inc. supports, produces, and distributes independent media of consequence and promotes the use of independent media by advocates, educators and the general public. By fostering the production and use of independent film, video and new media, Arts Engine connects media makers and active audiences in order to spur critical consideration of pressing social issues.

We are seeking a Technology Associate with strong system administration, programming and technical support skills. This full-time position is an excellent opportunity to join a team of experienced film/web professionals. The Technology Associate will work closely with the Director of Technology to build and support the following Arts Engine Projects:

MediaRights (http://www.mediarights.org),
Youth Media Distribution Initiative (http://www.ymdi.org),
Media That Matters Film Festival (http://www.mediathatmattersfest.org).

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
(a) General system administration: office network maintenance/configuration, email systems management, server backups and monitoring, security updates
(b) Web development: code maintenance and redesign (client, server and database), issue tracking and management, quality assurance and documentation, data imports, report generation
(c) Tech support: software updates, hardware upgrades, hard disk recovery and minor application support

TECHNOLOGIES
* OS X: Xserve, Airport, Cisco routers
* LAMP: Redhat Linux, Debian, iptables, RPM, PHP, Perl, Apache, mod_perl, mod_rewrite, MYSQL, Courier imap, Postfix
* Web: XHTML, XML, RSS (RDF), CSS, Javascript

QUALIFICATIONS
* Two years Unix system administration experience
* Degree in Computer Science preferable
* Interest in social issue media
