      The qualified candidate must have a strong foundation in Systems Administration as well as experience in operating in a client-facing role. Direct support experience is a plus. Ability to prioritize and operate on multiple issues at once will differentiate the ideal candidate.

      Required:

      • Three to five years systems administration experience
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills
      • Independent problem solving & self-direction
      • Comfortable with most aspects of UNIX systems administration; for example, configuration of mail systems, system installation and configuration, printing systems, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software
      • Solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating system; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts ("inode", "superblock"), RAID (0,1,1+0,3,5,10)
      • Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; can configure NFS and NIS, can use host, nslookup or dig, understands basic routing concepts
      • Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Perl, korn, bash, zsh, etc)
      • Solaris 2.6, 7, 8 on Sparc platform
      • Knowledge of Sun Hardware (Ultra 5 through E6900 – E10K+ experience a plus)
      • Linux install & config experience
      • Linux kernel tuning & driver compilation/installation
      • Degree in computer science or a related field

      Desirable:

      • Knowledge of Veritas products – Cluster, File System, Volume Manager
      • Package management (OpenPKG / RPM, Sun Packages)
      • Significant programming background in any applicable language
      • Ability to do minimal debugging and modification of C programs
