    * Description:

      DataSynapse is seeking a System Administrator with 5 years experience for full-time work in our New York office. We are a rapidly-expanding software company, and our internal systems group supports business, development, and services teams which rely on a wide range of Linux, UNIX, and Windows systems. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for Linux systems, Unix systems, and network infrastructure, but will share secondary responsibility for Windows systems as well.

      Duties include:
      - Management and expansion of core authentication systems and fileservers.
      - Maintenance of a production colocation site which hosts Internet-connected DNS, Mail, and Web servers.
      - Maintenance and expansion of a multi-site VPN configuration using both Linux and 3rd-party VPN systems.
      - Installation and configuration of Linux and Unix servers and workstations for the development and test labs.
      - Development and implementation of system-related policies.
      - Participation in weekly on-call rotation.

    * Required Skills:

      Required Skills:
      - Linux System Administration, including custom kernel configuration, security administration, and system tuning.
      - Production experience with NFS and Samba, preferably across Wide Area Networks.
      - Production experience with LDAP and Samba Domain authentication.
      - Qmail, Ezmlm, and Djbdns.
      - Experience with Linux-based firewall and VPN systems, particularly iptables and Openswan administration.
      - Development experience with Perl and Shell.
      - Development experience with C, C++, or Java a plus.
