Junior/Senior Unix System Administrator(s)
This is a Full-time, permanent position. The ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
* Previous technical support experience, ideally in a web hosting setting
* Network/server monitoring (responding to alerts for customer servers and alerting Sr. Admin for Fortress alerts)
* Being a 1st responder to customer requests (phone & tickets)
* Strong troubleshooting skills - be able to find the answer without asking
* Experience with Linux (Red Hat primarily) and FreeBSD ? familiarity with the command line
* Operational knowledge of common servers serving core internet services: apache, qmail, bind, exim, proftpd, mysql, etc. Additional knowledge and basic troubleshooting of hosting-related applications (H-Sphere, cPanel, Plesk, etc.) are a big plus
* Fundamental understanding of IP networking
* Basic knowledge of PC hardware
* Ability to lift 45 lbs.
* Desire and ability to learn
* Must be self-motivated and able to work individually or collectively
* Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
* Positions are ON-SITE. Remote positions are unavailable
* Flexible hours are a must (evening and overnight hours are required)
* No sponsorships available Duties of Senior Admin Team:
* Responsible for all production Fortress servers (planned upgrades, planned maintenance)
* On-call for emergencies (2 week rotation)
* New Projects to improve infrastructure
* kernel maintenance
* Product evaluation & testing (hardware & software)
* Supervising, training, interviewing & scheduling for NOC staff
* Handling escalated tickets/phone calls from the NOC
* Maintain LDAP users and LDAP Systems
* Develop and advance internal systems such as asterisk, mysql based dns, ldap, tacas, radius and other infrastructure.
* Licensing (Plesk, cPanel, Fantastico, Rvskin, DNS registration)
* Overflow as necessary Duties of a NOC Technician:
* Being a 1st responder to customer requests (phone & tickets) - Includes but not limited to:
* Reboots & fsck
* DNS & Reverse DNS
* Shared hosting issues
* cPanel issues
* OS reinstalls
* Hardware replacement (customer servers only) v Escalation of appropriate issues (overly difficult tickets, overly difficult customers, issues with FortressITX servers)
* Network/server monitoring (responding to Argus & Nagios alerts for customer boxes and alerting Sr. Admin for Fortress alerts) Benefits: Medical, Vision, Dental, and 401K after 3 months of permanent hire
