# Description: Systems Software Development: Supercomputer for Computational Biochemistry Extraordinarily gifted software developers sought to design, develop, and deploy systems software for a specialized massively parallel supercomputer based on custom ASICs under development by a rapidly growing New Yorkâbased research group aimed at achieving major scientific advances in the field of biochemistry and fundamentally transforming the process of drug discovery. This research effort is being financed by the D. E. Shaw group, an investment and technology development firm with approximately $20 billion in aggregate capital, and operates under the direct scientific leadership of its founder, Dr. David E. Shaw. Successful hires will work on operating systems, firmware design, development tools, diagnostics, and hardware simulation, as well as designing and parallelizing kernels, libraries, and applications. Ideal candidates will have a computer science or engineering degree, prior experience with non-trivial parallel or distributed systems software projects, deep knowledge of operating systems internals, strong C/C++ programming ability, and excellent verbal and written skills. Familiarity with device drivers, file systems, run-time systems, communication protocols, bootstrap code, and bringup of new hardware is a plus. We are prepared to reward exceptionally well-qualified individuals with above-market compensation. Please send your resume to svlug-ss at career.deshawresearch.com. D. E.
