Individuals in this position are generally assigned to a variety of tasks of medium to broad scope that require a command of and solid proficiency in enterprise applications. Daily responsibilities will include designing, architecting and updating all Medical Center IT systems. Collaborates with and gathers technical requirements from the application technical teams to enhance functionality, security, and efficiency of enterprise application system infrastructures and related technical components. Conducts analysis, planning, installations, and testing of system software and provides continuous improvement solutions to meet business requirements. Develops and test programs to supply underlying data in support of internal software licensing and asset management tracking systems. Primary Responsibilities Include: * Engineering of Unix-based systems to support applications (custom and commercial), databases, infrastructure services, messaging services and all platform services. * Developing specifications, action plans and documentation for NYU Medical Center systems. * Working with NYUMC IT teams, vendors and industry partners to keep Medical Center systems running in optimal configurations * Working with System Administrators to ensure availability of applications, and resolving any problems that may impact systems. (Including 24x7 responsibilities) Qualifications: * Experience with managing large-scale Sun Solaris server environment * Minimally 5+ years of experience managing Sun Solaris * Strong experience with formalized and streamlined system configurations and designs * Expertise on managing DNS required (enterprise DNS designing experience a plus) * Demonstrated experience in process automation (Unix Shell Scripting, Python, Windows Scheduler, Perl, etc.) * Solid experience with security and networking * Experience with Linux and AIX preferred * Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible application system administration experience utilizing applicable system infrastructures. * * * Minimum of 3 years experience designing and building systems in a Unix-based client/server environment and 2 years experience with programming applications/systems using UNIX scripting language. * * * Demonstrated understanding of enterprise application system infrastructures and related technical components. * * * Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner, skillfully manage complex projects, and stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments and apply the knowledge in the workplace. * * * Demonstrated analysis and technical problem solving skills. * Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and information effectively both verbally and in writing.
