The Village Community School is seeking a junior level Systems
Administrator to join the Technology Department for the remainder of
the 2006-2007 school year.  The position will potentially lead to a
permanent (12-month) full-time Systems Administrator position.

Village Community School (VCS) is a K-8 independent school serving a
diverse educational community of approximately 335 students.
Currently, we have 70 workstations on the network running Mac OSX with
Mac and FreeBSD servers. In addition there are approximately 45
notebooks and a variety of multimedia equipment.

The Systems Administrator specific duties include but are not limited
to the following:
* Planning and installing the systems upgrades over the summer
* Maintaining computers and servers including all associated tasks
(backups, hardware, machine images, software updates, user accounts)
* Planning and aligning the school's technology needs to better meet
the mission of the school
* Supervising use and management of all software
* Maintaining school-wide Intranet
* Support networked printers and any networking issues that arise
(wired and wireless)
* Providing timely, considerate computer help desk support to teachers
and administrators
* Provide ongoing training and professional development support to the faculty
* Opportunity to teach technology classes

Ideal candidates will have:
* Experience working with Mac OS X
* Knowledge of unix a plus
* Integration experience in an organization of a similar size to VCS
* Friendly presence and helpful attitude; good interpersonal skills
and ability to work well
with others.
