Two positions in NYC. Here's the HR version:
http://jobview.monster.com/Unix-Systems-Administrator-Engineer-Other-Job-New-York-NY-99483672.aspx
Here's my pitch:
I'm looking for two SysAdmin/Middleware Engineers to join our New
York-area team in Enterprise Computing. You'll use your systems
knowledge and write code to integrate products, provide tooling,
troubleshoot complex problems and provide support to an existing and
expanding set of products used across all lines of business.
The upside:
- Global financial firm with 60,000 employees in 36 countries
- Small, stable distributed team with highly-experienced members
and established tools and procedures
- Highly visible (folks will know your name when you succeed)
- A strong build vs. buy culture where vendor and Open Source are side-by-side
- 24x7 Operations team and hotline in front of you
- Work-from-home and flex-desk plans
The downside:
- No slackers
- Small, stable distributed team with highly-experienced members
and established tools and procedures (but we like new and shiny!)
- Highly visible (folks will know your name if you blow it)
- Office is in NYC, expect to be there
- On-call support 1 week out of 6
- You'll report directly or indirectly to me
The qualification wishlist:
(Treat like a menu, two from column A, two from column B)
- Unix sysadmin, tuning or related experience
- Windows administrator or related experience
- Large-scale system experience (or the right aptitude to scale up)
- Fluency in Perl or Python
- Familiarity with C
- Familiarity with Java
- Exposure to .NET
- Exposure to real DB's (Sybase, DB2, Oracle, PostGRES)
- Transactional Messaging experience (WebSphere MQ, AMQP, ZeroMQ)
- Workflow Management experience (Autosys, Control/M, Orsyp, Tidal)
- Ross
