Hmmm.  Where to start?

On the one hand, there is a never-ending problem with recruiters who
spam lists with irrelevant or vague job offerings to harvest resumes.

That is particularly frustrating for some of us (very much including
Pete) who've spent an enormous amount of time building this group.  We
happily volunteer for the group, yet recruiters, among others, somehow
think that we are a great free resource for them.

Of course when it comes to sponsoring events such as the con, we've
*never* had a recruiter sponsor, despite commitments to do so.

In the meantime, we've essentially made NYC a "BSD city" in a way that
it wasn't before.  Well, only maybe since the big finance firms that use
Linux are imploding, but regardless.   We have managed to shift things a
bit.

Certainly I can point to a number of people from NYC*BUG who've
migrated/upgraded their environments from Linux.  So maybe more people
on NYC*BUG *should* go after Linux jobs ;)

But many people recognize that non-BSD specific sysadmin or dev jobs are
appropriate here.  I think we should agree on that.  It's been argued
about before in the way back past, but skills in the field are easy
enough to generalize.

So *I* don't think there an issue with posting real jobs with skillsets
that are broadly included in our scene.

But please remember, we are all volunteers here, and the *only* people
we've ever bounced from our lists have been recruiters here for the
enticing harvest.
