<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">This position is for a Software Architect in the group that builds the <a href="http://nytimes.com" target="_blank">nytimes.com</a> online advertising system. This custom-built system serves tens of billions of ad impressions on a monthly basis to over 50 million unique visitors.<u></u><u></u></span></p>

<p><b><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Specific responsibilities include:<u></u><u></u></span></b></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Designing and architecting future versions of the advertising platform</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt"></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Developing and maintaining the core online advertising system as well as its APIs<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Working with a larger team that builds and maintains the online advertising campaign management system<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Supporting the live system in a 24x7 production environment<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Providing tools, interfaces and APIs for other developers to integrate their web applications with the advertising system<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">Interface with key users of the system to understand their use of it and needs for improvement.<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><b><span style="font-size:10.0pt">The candidate will have:<u></u><u></u></span></b></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">- At least 10 years of experience developing high-performance C++ systems on Unix and Linux<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">- Deep expertise in highly scalable web development<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">- Deep expertise in multithreaded and network programming<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">- Strong knowledge of relational databases (Oracle and MySQL)<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">- Strong knowledge of advanced algorithms<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt">- Strong scripting knowledge (Perl, Python, etc.)<u></u><u></u></span></p>
