<br><div>Systems Administrator<br><br>Information Technology and Network Services | New York, NY, United States<br>About.com, an IAC company (NASDAQ: IACI), is looking for a highly motivated Systems Administrator to join our Web Hosting Operations group.  The ideal candidate for this opportunity will be experienced in working with diverse, high traffic websites; be experienced with various UNIX platforms; and possess a competent networking background. <br>
 <br>The ideal candidate must also be able to architect long term solutions to provide for redundancy, scalability, and ease of management for a large internet operation. <br> <br>To be successful in this role you must be a proven team communicator who is able to effectively and collaboratively work across many departments.  This opportunity requires a sharp, motivated, and meticulous team player who believes in the support and deployment of open source solutions.<br>
 <br> <br>What you’ll do:<br> <br><br>Ensure continued reliable uptime of the About.com service<br>Manage FreeBSD and Linux server clusters, roll out system updates, streamline cluster deployment, and enhance system security<br>
Provide application support including software installation, patching, and upgrades<br>Focus on reliability, site performance, and application tuning<br>Assist in troubleshooting network and service issues<br>Routine monitoring of services and networks<br>
Contribute to the architecture and design of our platform as we continue to grow<br><br> <br> <br>Who you are:<br> <br><br>BS in Computer Science (or 4 years of relevant work experience) and a minimum of 3 years Unix/Linux systems administration experience<br>
Experience with FreeBSD, Linux, Apache/Nginx, and MySQL<br>Internet and web hosting experience<br>Experience with large scale distributed data processing systems - Hbase and Hadoop a plus<br>TCP/IP experience and the ability to troubleshoot application and network issues<br>
