[nycbug-talk] Newbie: Aironet 350 PCMCIA; How to join WEP network

Hi guys,

I'm running FreeBSD 4.9 and have a Cisco Aironet 350
pcmcia wireless card.  My understanding is that this
card is very well supported by the BSDs, but for the
life of me I haven't been able to make it work.

I've looked at the handbook and through the newsgroups
and tried using both ifconfig and ancontrol.  I can
send commands to the card without a problem and it is
recognized by the OS, etc.  But even with the proper
channel, ssid, and wep password set I get "no
carrier".  This is on a networks I can connect fine to
using the airport card on my powerbook.

Does anyone use this card and if so what commands do
you issue to join a wep network?

My understanding is that the card does not require an
external antenna (I don't have one).  Perhaps I need
one?
