yea but once they started working on RC's they disabled SMP in DEFAULT 
and moved it over to a kernconfig named SMP.  there were too many issues 
with SMP effecting Uniproc machines.  i would definatly disable 
hyerthreading until you get all your hardware issues worked out.  
frankly, from personal experience hyperthreading produces mixed results 
at best...
