I had forgotten about them and saw someone had one recently, dangling around their neck. I didn't get to do much with it, but it was cool considering its base cost is $9. If I could do a minimal amount of functions like ssh, serial console, etc., I could definitely find a use for a few of these. IIRC it's running some stripped down Linux, and $9 doesn't include much. It can run on regular batteries, which is cool. The keyboard is a major PITA though. g From george at ceetonetechnology.com Mon Aug 1 11:37:53 2016 From: george at ceetonetechnology.com (George Rosamond) Date: Mon, 1 Aug 2016 11:37:53 -0400 Subject: [talk] NYC*BUG Wednesday InstallFest Message-ID: <2366f07b-eecf-4e3a-d1be-3b86615fe843@ceetonetechnology.com> Wednesday, August 3rd *BSD Installfest 18:45, Stone Creek Bar & Lounge: 140 E 27th St NYC*BUG InstallFests are mixed-up, sloppy opportunities to get hands-on and dirty with an array of hardware. >From Raspberry Pis and BeagleBones to common 64-bit laptops, lots of hardware and a rat's nest of cables will saturate the room, along with install media for FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD and beyond. It is pretty good. It provides a Python Interpretor but Version 2.7. I could see It has an 1 Ghz ARM processor. But for some reason provides Gnu tools on the Computer, rather than an Cross compiler. Claims to run an default Xwindows with Menus like Productivity. I have send them a mail to check I found some problems, Don't want to disclose the question. Please reply off-list if you?d like to help! Target move date: mid-september. -- What?s happening: For those who don?t know, the NYC*BUG ?cabinet", (colo donated by NYI and located downtown), has been home to many *BSD related projects over the years, as well as home to fast NYC mirrors, and of course home to the infrastructure which runs NYC*BUG. Even this list message can happen because of the cabinet. Over the years, with many volunteer hands, the cabinet has become harder and harder to maintain. We have a new cabinet ready, clean new PDU?s, and the opportunity to move all the servers over- for a clean and fresh start. This will enable simpler in/out for servers and projects, and simplified maintenance. The plan: this is small, the entire move can be done in 1 day if I?ve got some volunteers to help label and move things! No datacenter experience is required to help out, but you need to be able to carry servers and possess basic competency with a screwdriver.
