(On OPNSense I think I configure OpenVPN properly but fail to set up proper rules.) Part of the issue is that I know very little about networking and there are few tutorials for OPNSense or OpenBSD. I'm thinking about setting up another router with pfSense just because lots of tutorials use that. Could anyone suggest either a tutorial that I might not have seen or a simpler approach that I might still be able to understand? Related, my VPN needs are much less ambitious than those discussed on this thread: * Comcast sometimes drops my entire internet connection when I place VoIP calls. Based on how it happens, it seems that they do this on purpose. At the moment I'm not using Comcast, but I would like to avoid this general sort of issue. * I do not have an internet IP address because I use my next-door neighbor's internet connection; an ethernet cable connects her router and mine. Hmm. I guess I could set up an IP6 tunnel broker. Should I consider something other than these VPN services? I am very happy with AirVPN, IVPN, and Mullvad except that I can't configure them on my devices. I occasionally write articles about *BSD stuff, and I just finished a guide to running OpenBSD on a laptop. It got a lot of comments on Hacker News so I figured I'd show the locals :-) https://www.c0ffee.net/blog/openbsd-on-a-laptop/ My most popular article by far is my guide to running your own mail server on FreeBSD, which I wrote last year: https://www.c0ffee.net/blog/mail-server-guide/ However I currently run everything on OpenBSD now. Hope to see some of you at the meeting next week. I have a small pfsense box at home that I've been very happy with. I also wrote a guide last year for running your own VPN on using OpenVPN on FreeBSD. It's got a bunch of pf configuration snippets in there, so it should be fairly applicable to OpenBSD as well. https://www.c0ffee.net/blog/openvpn-guide/ Cullum From kmsujit at gmail.com Sun Nov 4 00:56:19 2018 From: kmsujit at gmail.com (Sujit K M) Date: Sun, 4 Nov 2018 10:26:19 +0530 Subject: [talk] Vpn service In-Reply-To: <1541301084.3841332.1564807808.2058EB1B@webmail.messagingengine.com> References: <4tqhlqLcl7niRkksG0OJUvAB4hr0T21yQ6U-cD0aigvI6kqhYwmkeU63jzXhhAIi_jwmzVVFc4T94Vpnj3We-hmNVtGpfMHmEHXshNHiZB8=@protonmail.com> <30c877a4-d902-f0f7-ef30-55f4de846f86@riseup.net> <1541301084.3841332.1564807808.2058EB1B@webmail.messagingengine.com> Message-ID: On Sun, Nov 4, 2018, 8:43 AM Ipsen S Ripsbusker I have been trying to set up VPN but have consistently failed on > OPNSense and OpenBSD. We briefly had an OpenBSD-6.3 VM set up on perlmonger.nycbug.org, but it ran into technical difficulties. But in the past few days we've gotten an OpenBSD-6.4 VM operational. Yesterday I was able to test, then smoke-test, Perl 5 blead in this VM. That led to the following bug report: https://rt.perl.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=133649 This is really strange: two locales-related test failures that only appear in *unthreaded* builds! Any OpenBSD folks who are interested should check out that bug report. So, another by-product of our groups' collaboration. Thank you very much.
