I clearly remember the LinuxWorld meeting - well clearly remember 
attending it but not much else lol.

the one that really stood out to me in the "early" days was the 
consulting meeting at TekServe:

at some point there was discussion about how much money people are able 
to make as consultants and i was *gobsmacked* - i think i even elbowed 
jesse in disbelief - when i saw that people were actually making a 
living doing this stuff.

and while all the meetings I was able to attend where awesome, my 
fondest memories usually were the discussions afterwards over drinks 
talking story.
