Hi!

I think I have little to add to this conversation.
I'm quite happy with Hetzner. They officially don't offer FreeBSD or
*BSD, but you can request any Linux-based VPS with the hardware specs
you want, then you re-install the VPS by attaching a FreeBSD cdrom and
boot from there. I've a couple of VPS with them with FreeBSD, though I
have most of my things in my own personal colo.
I'm aware it's European based, though they have two locations in US in
a shared datacenter facility. The price is decent for my standards.

In theory, a similar thing should be possible with Digital Ocean, if
you prepare a raw disk image or you upload a ready-made cloud image,
but I've never tried it myself.

I'm also searching for a VPS provider in Vancouver, BC, that is owned
by a Canadian company, for a little project I have. I might appreciate
FreeBSD, but Linux can be fine too.
