FYI, there was a PR submitted by the upstream port maintainer.
2.0.0 is dead and 2.1.0 is the current version as of May 2015.
To update on FreeBSD, simply change PORTVERSION to 2.1.0 in
net/torsocks/Makefile, run "make makesum" and reinstall the port, and
all works fine. Although I'm a bit perplexed as to why it defaults to
SOCKS port 9050 while newer Tor stuff seems to use 9150.
Also, the torsocks.conf is now in /usr/local/etc/tor, and not in the
parent dir.

I added to the PR. There were some extra lines in the patch which I saw
after I updated the port that I will look at later.
