Position: Sr. Linux Systems Administrator 
Compensation: $130K - $150K
Location:New York, NY

Our client, a publicly trade firm, operates an award-winning information portal, delivering comprehensive content on four million topics spanning health, finance, entertainment, business and more. 

They are looking for a NYC-based Linux SysAdmin to join and lead their growing Production Operations/IT team.

Candidate will carry out hands-on systems management for our major Internet server farms as well as for our in-house development and testing environments in NYC and abroad. Candidate will also participate in technical projects in coordination with other departments and with staff from our hosting providers.

The environment consists mainly of Linux servers running Apache, MySQL and proprietary Java Server applications.

Responsibilities:
- Support, troubleshoot, and monitor our 24x7x365 production environment
- Perform Linux Systems deployment, maintenance and administration
- Investigate and research advanced technical issues
- Monitor system activity, performance, growth & trends

Technical Requirements:
- Experience with Apache, MySQL and Java Server environments is essential
- At least 3 years proven in-depth experience in Linux Systems Management
- Experience managing production webserver farms - "nonstop service"
- Demonstrable ability to develop & enhance Log Analysis/Trending reports & graphs
- Proven UNIX scripting abilities - Perl, Bash, Awk, etc.
- Must have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to support a high availability production environment
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, Subnetting, DNS, NAT, Routing
- Familiarity with Routers, Switches & Firewalls
- Solid knowledge of Information Security issues
- Be innovative!

- Fast learner, attention to detail, good team player
- Ability to work effectively and flexibly in a dispersed team environment
- Ability to establish priorities; handling many projects and tasks simultaneously
- Ability to adhere to policies & procedures related to our production environment
- Some domestic and overseas travel is required 
- Willingness to occasionally work very early am and on weekends (for scheduled off-hour maintenance tasks)
