I liked NZ privacy laws.  In short, information can only be used for 
the purposes for which it was collected.

That makes it much more difficult to pass on details to other 
parties, such as selling a mailing list.  There are overriding 
conditions, such as court orders etc, but for the most part, it's 
pretty good.
