[nycbug-talk] emacs read-only mode

hey all,
	i'm a slacker (altho i did do a little googling first)
but anyway...does anyone know of a read-only mode for emacs.
i.e. i'd like to mimic how i use view to load vim in readonly mode
which i find helpfull in grokking new code, troubleshooting, reading
log/config files  etc...

ps-->i know i could just use view but i'm "forcing" myself to learn
emacs for fun and profit ;)
