As I remember it FSFS would work just fine on a NAS and BDB has come a
long way as well. Was there some specific reason it wouldn't work?
As far as git is concerned I don't know anything about it but if your
looking around Mercurial is supposed to be pretty good. I don't know
how well it scales though.
