I tried it, but I see something which is confusing me.

Other than that it seems to work.

Also the original sdiff had a --help line.
That would be nice. :-)
But I guess if they didn't do it in the original OS you ported this from 
(OpenBSD), then it probably doesn't make much sense to have it in FreeBSD 
then.
