I asked the developer and here is the two reason he gave.  I'm just
relaying this information:

1) tinyBIOS is a bit behind the times in such areas as ACPI, large
disk support etc.

2) The complexity of new chipsets like the AMD fusion parts is such
that you want to take the basic support code from the supplier as far
as possible. Otherwise I would probably still be debugging.

No word on how to build or update it just yet
