Abstract

An operating system is a piece of code intended to help computer
operators load punch cards -- hence "operating". The timesharing system
was created to allow interactive shared access to the handful of
computers which existed at the time. We will examine what is in the
interactive punch card loader in 2017, what actually belongs in there,
and why things are the way they are. Like science, the talk is highly
religious. Unlike computer science, the talk is grounded in reality.
Discussions, heretical opinions, and questions are encouraged

Speaker Bio

Antti Kantee has been a NetBSD committer since the 1900's and has
managed to do many sorts of damage. He is probably best (or worst,
depending on who you ask) known for his decade-long workhaul on rump
kernels. Antti very recently moved to the Princeton area, so in case he
appears particularly absent during his talk, he got lost on the way to
the venue.

   Thanks for coming out to this year's first meeting. It was lively and loud . Thanks to Antti for helping us to understand rump kernels and how you use to horde old hardware. It makes us all feel a little better for holding on to that microvax for so long. 

We are still working out the details for next month. It will However be at LMHQ see NYCBUG.org for more info .

Thanks for the plentiful discussion during the talk, and also to Patrick 
for recording it.

I think I failed to give an explicit pointer to the written material I 
was alluding to.  Like I said, the talk was a "why I've come to certain

For anyone on list who may have a little telnet alias pulling info from
rainmaker.wunderground.com, they moved the service to a new machine  and
did not have telnet up and running on the new box until either last
night or this morning.

I have found the info from the rainmaker.wunderground.com telnet service
concise and helpful. It will give me expected snow accumulation in the
forecast.

They are responsive on help@
