      Description: (The Z/VM experience is optional.)

      The client will be developing the use of Linux on the mainframe for production to host DB2CONNECT, LOTUS NOTES & WEBSPHERE applications. Candidate will be responsible for managing multiple virtual Linux servers hosting critical applications on Z/VM. Must have very strong Sysadmin, trouble shooting and performance tuning skills. Must also be knowledgeable in Apache, with excellent networking skills in TCP/IP, including familiarity with firewalls. Experience in system monitoring and configuration management is a must. Familiarity with Novell SuSE Linux enterprise distribution and prior installation of Websphere application server is a plus. The candidate will perform system updates and maintain system integrity. He/she will also manage file ownership permissions, and related system files, along with designing and maintaining an effective backup strategy. The incumbent will also be responsible for the configuration and monitoring of log files for local systems.
