Reports to: Systems Engineering Manager

VMware Systems Engineers work very closely with their sales team, which consists of a Corporate Account Manager (CAM) and an Inside Sales Representative (ISR). The SE is responsible to help accelerate the closing of strategic and transactional business focused on a geographic territory or defined set of accounts.

Responsibilities:
• Technical pre-sales support for VMware’s direct and channel partners sale teams.
• Proactively seek out new sales opportunities by developing new and existing technical relationships within accounts.
• Present VMware’s technical value proposition to customers and partners.
• Proactively drive new and incremental business with the OEM and Channel Partners.
• Provide VMware product education to our OEM and Channel Partners.
• Ensure success of customer proof-of-concepts (POCs).
• Documentation of client feature requests and issues.
• Support VMware and partner seminars and industry trade shows.
• Drive the design of customer oriented solutions using VMware.
• Develop technical knowledge of VMware and associated technologies.
• Participate on a consistent basis in the SE discussion forum.
• Assume the role of a mentor to other system engineers when appropriate.
• Create training content for the SE organization when appropriate.


# Required Skills:

Requirements:
• BA/BS or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3-6 years of technical sales experience.
• Strong presentation skills as well as the ability to build and present high quality product demonstrations to both technical and executive audiences. Must exhibit ability to speak in front of large audiences.
• Strong customer-facing and relationship building skills.
• Must be effective in working both independently and in a team setting.
• Strong writing skills with the ability to create technical documentation.
• Experience with enterprise applications, security, systems management, business continuity solutions a plus.
• Experience troubleshooting system level problems including server failure, OS tuning, networking problems.
• Strong IT infrastructure technical skills including x86 Server platforms, Windows Server and Linux operating system expertise, SAN / NAS storage technologies and TCP/IP networking.
• Ability to travel up to 50 percent of the time, including international if necessary.
