Position: Linux Application Systems Engineer 

Description:
Our Client, an award winning publicly traded internet company, is seeking a talented Linux Systems Engineer in their NYC office. Candidate will be part of an exciting, fast-paced international team working to build & support our expanding fleet of advanced production application servers and the Linux environment in which they operate.

Responsibilities:
Develop, manage and support the environment in which our Linux-based application servers operate
Lead the development of automated application server deployment, updates, maintenance and administration processes
Create and maintain Linux Shell and Perl scripts
Monitor system activity, performance, and growth
Troubleshoot technical issues
Support, trouble-shoot & monitor our 24x7x365 production environment

Requirements
At least 5 years proven in-depth experience in Linux systems management
Solid UNIX scripting abilities ? especially Perl and Shell
Proven Puppet and/or Cfengine development abilities huge plus
Experience with MySQL and managing replication essential
Experience with Apache and mod_rewrite desirable
Knowledge of Nagios monitoring/alerting and Zabbix graphing/trending apps a big plus
Good knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, NAT, Routing
Must have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to support a high availability production environment
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent desirable
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both face-to-face and on the phone
Fast learner, attention to detail, good team player
Ability to also be on call during evenings and weekends
Excellent spoken and written English required
