I'm currently working on a confidential Director of IT position with a well-established client of mine in the consumer-facing, e-commerce space. I can share details of the company once contacted. 

 

Here's what they are looking for -

 

We are looking for a passionate, intelligent individual to lead our IT, Operations, and Platform development group during a very exciting time, while we take our web presence to the next level and seek to find innovative new channels to reach our readers and the members of our community.

 


Reporting to the VP of Technology, the Director of IT will provide critical software, hardware, and network support to the entire staff, including remote employees based in multiple cities across the country. Responsibilities include but are not limited to server administration, VOIP management, hands-on computer hardware/software support, IT security, troubleshooting, and networking. 


 


You will have several direct reports focused on IT and Operations, but will also have to be a hands-on manager working directly in a customer support role.

Key Responsibilities




Provide IT leadership and strategic and tactical guidance for the group and the company
 
Respond to and address the needs of 100+ staff via hands-on support
 
Lead and mentor a team of IT and Operations professionals, including staffing, scheduling, prioritization, and career development
 
Ensure the continual availability and security of all IT systems
 
Serve as IT liaison for 3rd party vendors
 
Manage purchasing and implementation of software and support licenses
 
Stay up to date with trends, technologies, and regulations within the IT field
 
Make implementation recommendations regarding systems, security, tools, performance and support
 
Maintain accurate records for hardware and software inventory, licensing, cabling, equipment configuration, and other documentation
 
Establish and maintain user accounts and security permissions
 
Facilitate server and local data backups and ensure effective storage methods for recovery




While this role reads heavily managerial, it is poised to be very hands-on. Experience in a high traffic Linux environments will be a big plus here.
