yes it is pretty linux and solaris specific in the examples (and there  
is a whole chapter on package management which if i remember correctly  
does does mention FreeBSD but is mostly about RPM v .deb v tgz's from  
slackware).  The meat of the book tho is application specific, so i had  
no problems taking the concepts and techniques from this book and  
applying them on IRIX and FBSD.
