Has been helpfull to me a couple of times.

Once, got a warning at bootup that the drive was having problems. Backed 
up my date.. bought backup drive and kept on going.. some days later the 
drive started to have serious problems.. replaced it.

Another time had some read/write errors. Was able to find exactly what 
sectors and marked them as bad.
