Which BSD are we talking about here?
Just rebuild the relevant port and what depends on it then.
portupgrade -fr <relevant port>
Or just look at pkgdb (1). .. -L, -F. . .
And look at /usr/ports/Tools/scripts if you're using FreeBSD.
